ABSTRACT

This research aims to highlight the importance of textual linguistics in teaching writing skills to non-Arabic speakers  concerning informativity standard, one of Robert De Beaugrande’s textual standards. The research attempts to identify and analyse the needs of a sample of Arabic-speaking learners from the International Islamic University Malaysia in order to limit their learning needs. Based on the sample, a model language module had been formulated, and the research will present the proposed model of the linguistic units through its application in the teaching of writing skills for non-Arabic speakers. Theoretical and practical foundations in the teaching of foreign language skills will be considered, specifically focusing on writing skills.
